The helpline is open Monday to Saturday, 8am to 8pm and is for anyone who needs support around Domestic and Sexual Violence/Abuse. This can be support for yourself or for anyone that you maybe concerned about.
Our trained specialist helpline advisers will offer non-judgemental, confidential, information and support. We can help you in the following ways:
Listen to you and any concerns you may have
Give you information and advice you on the options available so you can make informed choices about your situation.
If it is not safe for you to remain in your accommodation we can support you to find somewhere safe in refuge or emergency accommodation.
Help you to access other types of support such as face to face support, group support, counselling and/or support for your children.
We can also support those that use violence in their relationships by referring them to our Jenkins Centre Project – www.jenkinscentre.org. Offer on-going telephone support.
Please note that although we will treat your information confidential, identifying information will be shared with UAVA – (www.uava.org.uk) member agencies only. No information will be shared with external or partner agencies without your consent unless, in exceptional situations, a significant risk to you, your children or others is identified; or we are instructed to do so by a court of law. We will always try and discuss this with you first wherever possible.
If English is not your first language, we have a team that have some language skills or we use Language Line to access interpreters so please let us know you preferred language when you call.
We also have a text-based service if you are not quite ready to talk or are a deaf/hard-to-hear caller and will respond to text messages within 24 hours.
Our helpline can get busy, so if you cannot get through immediately there is an option to leave a voicemail and we will get back to you as soon as we can. The helpline is less busier after 6pm and on a Saturday so if you can, call during these times.
